Engaged & Expecting: Brad & Sydney’s Double Celebration in Camden, SC
Some sessions feel like a celebration of one season. This one? It was the beginning of two. When Sydney first reached out to book engagement photos for her and Brad, I was so excited. We locked in a date and started planning, and then—just a few weeks later—I got the sweetest message from her. She sent me a picture of a positive pregnancy test and asked if we could turn their session into a baby announcement too. Of course, I said yes—without hesitation. What a beautiful (and let’s be honest, a little chaotic) time of life to experience both an engagement and a pregnancy all at once. As someone who knows Sydney well, I was over the moon for them.
We got to planning her dream engagement + baby announcement session, and it turned into one of my favorite shoots to date. I truly feel like this session reflected Brad and Sydney’s personalities so perfectly. Brad, who’s more quiet and introverted, brought a steady calmness to the session, while Sydney (my fellow extrovert!) brought all the energy, excitement, and love.
It was a sunny day in Camden, South Carolina, even though rain was in the forecast. Thankfully, the skies held off just long enough for us to shoot, and the light was beautiful. Sydney, who has been powering through all-day morning sickness (because let’s be honest, it’s never just in the morning), was such a trooper. We took breaks, worked fast, laughed a lot, and made sure she was as comfortable as possible while still capturing all the emotion and joy this moment deserves. We talked about everything to come—wedding planning, baby names, first trimester struggles, and all the excitement ahead. It's such a rare and special thing to be in this in-between season, planning a life together while also preparing to bring new life into the world. These are the moments that deserve to be remembered. After our session, Sydney reached out to book me for their wedding, and I honestly couldn’t be more excited. I have no doubt we’ll be doing maternity and newborn sessions before long, and I feel so honored to be walking through all of these milestones with this sweet couple.
