The Lutz Family at Kendall Park, Camden SC
I first connected with Kaitlyn through Instagram, and we instantly bonded over something near and dear to both of us—being boy moms. With two little ones each, we knew we spoke the same language: snacks, dirt, and never sitting still!
Kaitlyn was so excited for our session but shared a concern many parents have—she worried that her 18-month-old son, Philip, might be a challenge to photograph. Like most toddlers, he’s full of energy and curiosity (a.k.a. into everything). I reassured her that my sessions are completely child-led, especially for kiddos under five. I truly believe kids should be free to explore and just be themselves.
We chose Kendall Park in Camden, SC for their session—a perfect setting with wide open space, shaded benches, a charming bridge, and gorgeous oak trees. As soon as we arrived, Philip was off! From the first few moments, we were all chasing him around, leaf in hand (yes, he clung to that leaf the entire time—it was the star of the show!).
And you know what? That’s exactly how I want it. Family sessions with me are never about stiff poses or forcing moments. They’re about life as it is. We let Philip lead the way, and even though he wasn’t too into the idea of a “session,” we still captured so many sweet, joy-filled photos—genuine smiles, playful glances, and tender family snuggles.
Eventually, Philip made it very clear he was done, and we wrapped up a bit early. But that’s okay. That’s real life. And more importantly—it’s enough.
This session is a perfect reminder that even when it feels like everything’s going sideways, the magic is still happening. I promise you: the love, the chaos, the wild toddler energy—it all adds up to the most beautiful story.
My job isn’t to photograph perfection.
It’s to photograph you. Just as you are.
