Boots, Blossoms & Besties: A Friendship Session to Remember
When Kem reached out to me about photographing her daughter and her daughter’s best friend, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. She told me the girls wanted a best friend session—and suddenly, I was transported back to my own teenage years. The backyard photoshoots with friends, getting dressed up just for fun, laughing until our sides hurt…those memories are still some of my most treasured. And now, I had the chance to create those for someone else.
The girls showed up to our session looking absolutely adorable—both rocking beautiful white dresses, matching cowgirl boots, and the biggest smiles. Their only specific request? Megan Moroney vibes. Say less—I was already obsessed with the vision!
We started in the open backfield of a farm just before golden hour. The light was soft, the breeze was gentle, and the energy? Pure joy. I had them spinning, twirling, chasing each other, and even playing a little game of ring around the rosie. There was so much laughter and movement—I barely had to give direction. Their friendship was the story, and I just got to be the one to freeze it in time.
From the field, we made our way to a nearby flower patch. The soft blooms made the perfect, dreamy backdrop for their carefree energy. They picked a few petals, shared inside jokes, and honestly looked like they were living inside a country song.
Our last stop was the lake, where the evening light danced off the water. The girls stood next to each other and talked as they looked out at the lake as the sun was setting. It was the kind of scene that made me want to bottle it up—timeless, youthful, and full of heart.
This session wasn’t just about taking pretty pictures (though, trust me, we did!). It was about capturing a moment in time that these two best friends will look back on one day and say, “Remember this?” That’s what lifestyle photography is all about—telling stories that matter, even the ones that seem small in the moment.
To the girls: never stop celebrating your friendship like this.
To their mamas: thank you for giving them this gift.
And to anyone thinking about booking a session like this: do it. These memories are worth it.
